Due To COVID 19, The BSO Foundation made a choice not to gather in our usual manner by holding the annual dinner banquet fundraiser, Instead we Gifted a few local Frontline Nurses $100 via an electronic platform for Mother's Day.
These Nurses were nominated and family and friends, they had to express why their choice deserved the BSO Mother's Day Gift.
The selected nurses have all served over a combined 30years in the medical fields.
We were honored to add a little sunshine in the midst of a national pandemic.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS For 2023 RECIPIENTS

PLEASE READ
The BSO Foundation will provide scholarships for financial support to current College students who wish to obtain a college degree in the following programs; LPN, RN, RNP and a lottery scholarship will be awarded based on funds raised during the year to one or two individuals who are actively enroll in a biology, nursing or resident doctor base program.
Funds will be issued to the recipient’s college of acceptance from the Brittany Starks Oswell Foundation, Inc on behalf of the student. Scholarship recipients are responsible for providing their college Administrator and the BSO Foundation, Inc the student's identification number or the student account number to ensure funds are properly credited to the student’s account. The scholarship award's check will be issued within 30 days of recipients award.
Academic Achievement
Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Be enrolled in an accredited institution
Applicants Must Be:
A United States citizen and a permanent resident of South Carolina.
Entering student at an accredited institution as a undergraduate or graduate majoring in a nursing program, in the state of South Carolina and must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 hours).
Application Procedure
To be considered for a BSO Memorial Scholarship, the student must meet all of the following criteria
1. Complete application in its entirety and return to committee by deadline date.
2. Write a 1-page double spaced essay (between 300 and 500 words) addressing one of the following three topics:
A. Describe an accomplishment you have been recognized for and it's influence on you and your plans for becoming a future nurse.
B. Describe a challenge or obstacle you have had to overcome, and how this has impacted your education and plans for becoming a future nurse.
C. Why do you want to be a nurse and how you will use your profession to make a difference in the lives of your patients?
3. Submit official transcript from all high schools attended or college.
4. Submit 2 letters of recommendation: (1) from a teacher or high school counselor of your choice and (1) from someone who can speak to your overall ability and likelihood of your success in the nursing program. Person providing the recommendation cannot be a relative.
Selection Process
Scholarship applications will be submitted anonymously by the Administrator to a Selection Committee. Within 15 to 30 days after the submission deadline all applicants will receive notification of their award status.
